Tribe of One - Chris - Original

"Tribe of One" - Chris 36"x 48" Oil on Canvas 2016.

This oil painting is one of eight in my "Tribe of One" series. In this series, I convey a world that I want to live in surrounded by a diverse group of friends. I also address the fact that despite our obvious external differences in appearance, we all share ancestral roots that trace back to Africa. Accordingly, each model has the same facial markings resembling an equal sign to signify that we are united and when stripped down to our origins, we are a tribe of one.

I made a short documentary about the creation of my "Tribe of One" series that was awarded an Honorable Mention in the 3rd annual White House Student Film Festival. As a result of this recognition, I was invited to the White House Student Film Fest and, the first ever South by South Lawn (SXSL) festival.
